TOHO Godzilla 27" Limited Edition Vinyl Figure
Another Tuesday, another special #TuesdayTreasures item from the shop to share with you all!
I'd be shocked if anyone didn't know this iconic movie monster on sight. This is a 27"-long vinyl Godzilla figure from Toho Concorde, produced in the late 1990s-2000s, and it's a standout piece, with great texture and detail, especially around the eyes and mouth. Godzilla has managed to remain a prominent cultural touchstone in the U.S. since the Japanese movie was released here in 1956, with new movies coming out from both the U.S. and Japan in waves, the most recent release being 2019's Godzilla: King of the Monsters. Of course, with each new movie since the sixties there came a flood of collectible toys, figures, and other memorabilia. These days, the toy company Bandai is still creating Godzilla figures, along with the higher-end and more artistic company Billiken Shokai. But collectors are often looking for the older pieces from a variety of other toy companies like Marusan, Bullmark, and of course, Toho, the company that actually produced the original 1954 Gojira movie. This figure is valued at approximately $500, but if you stop by the shop or give us a call, you'll find our in-store exclusive selling price is much lower.
